“[…] I fantasmi sono in grado di assistere agli eventi della vita umana senza che nessuno possa vederli. Sono anche in grado di percepire i pensieri e le emozioni delle persone. […]” questo riportava l’Enciclopedia dei Poltergeist, una guida al mondo dell’occulto scritta da Carol Wilfred.
Il giovane Harry “Shazam” di Biase, giovane mago apprendista, decise di evocare uno spirito proprio dopo aver letto questa frase. Fu un successo!
Visto che la vita di un fantasma è in generale alquanto noiosa, lo spirito accettò di insegnare ciò che sapeva al ragazzo. Tanto per passare un po’ di eternità in compagnia.
Raccontandogli i fatti del mondo a cui aveva assistito, mostrandogli i suoi poteri sovrannaturali, lo avrebbe reso un grande mago.
“Oggi parleremo di come si scompare”, disse il fantasma:
L’Illuminazione
Il Maestro insegnava sempre là dove cresceva l’albero Wang. Sotto l’ombra di quelle antiche fronde si sentiva illuminato di un sapere superiore.
Tutti i suoi discepoli ascoltavano le sue storie, e ogni volta sentivano di aver imparato qualcosa di nuovo. Di avere arricchito loro stessi.
Un giorno il Maestro raggiunse l’Illuminazione e lentamente cominciò a svanire. In quel momento vedeva le cose del mondo realmente. Diede gli ultimi insegnamenti ai suoi discepoli, e fatto ciò svanì con un sorriso.
Negli anni successivi intorno all’antico albero Wang sorse un grande centro turistico. Una volta ogni ora un attore si poneva sotto le fronde del famoso albero, raccontava le storie del Maestro e poi svaniva con l’aiuto di una botola.
I discepoli avevano saputo sfruttare bene gli insegnamenti del loro maestro…
La verità
Agáthe Morél si svegliava la mattina presto. Usciva di casa diretta al mercato. Un veloce giro tra i piccoli negozi del paesino costiero in cui viveva, e poi via, diretta alle case delle amiche. Ovunque andasse tutti sapevano ogni cosa accaduta nel paese.
Certo che a furia di andare di casa in casa, di negozio in negozio, le storie un poco cambiavano. Ad esempio la figlia della pescivendola una volta passò da fidanzata a vedova nel giro di una mattinata. O il fioraio, che un giorno divenne vincitore di cifre sempre più astronomiche via via che la notizia veniva raccontata.
Tutti sapevano che quando Agáthe riportava ciò che aveva sentito, di persona in persona la verità scompariva…
Il bosco
Quando nessuno li guarda, gli alberi non fanno rumore. Ma non solo quello. Se non vengono visti da nessuno gli alberi, addirittura i boschi interi, lentamente perdono i propri colori, i dettagli, le forme. Letteralmente svaniscono quando non sono visti.
E’ che a loro piace essere liberi di andare dove vogliono.
Molti hanno provato a vederli sparire, ma è una cosa impossibile, quasi fosse magia. Però se si volge lo sguardo ad un bosco con la coda dell’occhio, può capitare di vederlo apparire come dal nulla…
La folla
Come lui tanti altri andavano presto al lavoro. Una folla di persone che sembrava infinita, tutta stipata sulle banchine dei mezzi pubblici.
Fu una di quelle mattine che tra la massa informe di persone sconosciute vide il viso di lei. I loro occhi si incrociarono e tutto intorno le persone svanirono…
Il messaggio
Il viaggiatore del tempo arrivò un giorno all’improvviso. Proferì un lungo e solenne discorso. Poi svanì così come era apparso. Nessuno capì mai cosa avesse detto…
Il fantasma mostrò al giovane apprendista come svanire. Si perse tra le ombre e non riapparve mai più.
Il ragazzo non riuscì a capire come avesse fatto. Così svanì anche la sua carriera di mago…

Young Harry “Shazam” di Biase, an apprentice magician, decided to summon a spirit right after reading this sentence. It was a success!
Given that the life of a ghost is generally somewhat boring, the spirit agreed to teach what he knew to the boy. Just to spend a bit of eternity in company.

The Enlightenment
The Master always taught where the Wang tree grew. Under the shadow of the ancient fronds he felt enlightened by a superior knowledge.
All his disciples listened to his stories, and each time they felt like they had learned something new. Like they had been enriched.
One day the Master attained the Enlightenment and slowly began to fade. At that moment he saw the world as it really is. He gave these last teachings to his disciples, and then he vanished with a smile.
In the following years, around the ancient Wang tree a great tourist center arose. Once an hour an actor was placed under the branches of the famous tree, he would tell the stories of the Master and then he would vanish with the help of a trapdoor.
The disciples had been able to make good use of the teachings of their master…
The truth
Agáthe Morél wakes up early every morning. She leaves the house to go to the market. A quick tour of the small shops in the coastal village where she lives, and then off, towards her friends’ homes. Everywhere she went everyone knew everything that happened in the town.
Of course, because she continues to go from house to house, shop to shop, the stories change a little. For example, the fishmonger’s daughter once went from girlfriend to widow in the space of a morning. Or the florist, who one day became the winner of more and more astronomical figures as the news was told.
Everyone knew that when Agáthe reported what she had heard, from one person to another, the truth disappeared…
The forest
When no one is around, trees do not make noise. But not only that. If they are not seen by anyone the trees, even whole forests, slowly lose their colors, their details, their shapes. They literally fade away when they are not seen.
The truth is they like to be free to go wherever they want.
Many have tried to see them disappear, but it is an impossible thing to do, it’s almost like magic. But if one takes a look at a forest with the corner of the eye, one could be lucky enough to see it appear as if from nowhere…
The crowd
Like him, many others went to work early in the morning. It was a crowd of people that seemed endless, all crammed on the public transport platforms.
It was on one of those mornings that amongst the shapeless mass of strangers he saw her face. Their eyes met and all around people vanished…
The message
The time traveler suddenly arrived one day. He uttered a long and solemn speech. Then he vanished as he had appeared. No one ever understood what he had said…
The ghost showed the young apprentice how to vanish. He let himself vanish in the shadows and did not reappear again.
The boy could not understand how the ghost did it. This led to the vanishing of his career…
